Bump and Jump Revival Cup Spring 2010: Season Review

The second ever season of the Bump and Jump Revival Cup has ended a few days ago. It featured many changes – Tiger Express Events took over the organisation after iCON Racing’s collapse, and a 2 divisions system. If Renesis dominated the first season with Joachim Souaï and Damien Jourdainne, the second season would be overpowered by the Irish Foireann Na hÉireann team (litterally Team Ireland in Gaelic) composed of Ministery of Speed’s manager Andy O’Brien and Niall Murray, the brother of the real life Seat Eurocup driver, Eoin. Both drivers took 1st and 2nd in both divisions.



Foireann Na hÉireann left no chance to their rivals: with 14 victories out of 18 races in Division A and 11 victories out of 18 in Division B. Both drivers were supposed for both titles in the last round, but Niall Murray couldn’t attend it, and therefore Andy O’Brien was crowned champion of Division A and B. Niall kept his 2nd place in both divisions in the end nevertheless.

In fact, the podium was almost exactly the same in both divisions, as Tiger Express’ manager Yann Laprevotte would take 3rd in Division B, but would get beaten by his teammate Lims Chebbi in Division A by only one point. The latter, who already won the Rookie Trophy in Fall 2009, has proven once again his consistance, with 12 podiums in 18 races (including 10 3rd places).

Tiger Express got 2nd in both divisions in the teams’ championship,in front of Üllar Mikk’s Race Sim Radicals in Division A, while in Division B they would get in front of 1-Click-LFS. Luke Marchant and Chris Palmer, its two drivers, impressed a lot with their enthousiasm, and managed to pull decent performances despite their small experience with Bump and Jump.

“It was a mistake to introduce a second division” said Tiger Express Events‘ manager Yann Laprevotte. “We can see in the end that the ballast given to experienced drivers in Division B had very little effect on the results, while the point of Division B was to see new people getting on top. We’ve seen good and bad stuff during this season, but in the end we proved that it is still possible to have fun on Autocross layouts in good conditions if the drivers have a friendly and courteous attitude, like we had at PitOfDespair. I hope we will have this attitude for the whole third season, which should come in Autumn 2010.”

Seriously, is it just that LFS CANT HAVE A STABLE server, or 500servers aren't stable enough, or ISPs are that shit that it can't last a few hour without packet loss or whatever causes the lag/time out.

NDR already came up with a similar idea, I don't really remember the whole idea and how it would work, but this is how I see it.

If there's a league or a race and it's very well-organised, would you be willing to pay a small entry fee to get in? On the other side, a few top positions would get payed back as a prize money.

Example: 50 competitors give $5 which makes $250.
After a season or a single race ended, the prize money will be given.
1st: $75
2nd: $50
3rd: $35
4th: $20
5th: $15
...
or similar.
Organizer might keep something as it takes a lot of time to run a league.

Some people will say that the fastest guys will take it. Well, this is why more top positions would get a prize money. Maybe reversed grids would help a bit as people think they can at least try to hold their positions like this. Well, eventually the fastest will have most points anyway, but it's still better than let them start on top again after the first race.

There's another option. Like only those who want to fight for prize money will give the entry fee and only them can win the prize money, of course. If no one else gives anything, the entry fee will be given back.

That prize money doesn't have to necessarily limited.
An example: A gives $20, B gives $10. B wins and gets $20.
Basically you can't get from anyone else more than you have given as a fee.

If there are more people like this, it would be a bit more complicated as you would have to find out how much can get everyone and it would be related to how much has he given etc. Some kind of formula would be made for it.

Also, some people who say they are not fast enough might eventually take a part if the league is really "PRO", I think. Something like IGTC/MoE. A league, which can give them some kind of respect even if they only participate.

...any other idea?

Standings have been finally updated.

Congratulations to the winners and top 3s. Tommy Østgaard securing first place quite easy with reserve of 60+ points in the Drivers Championship. Right behind is Kristaps Dzelzgalvis on 2nd and Didzis Nāckalns on 3rd, both from [STO] team, which won the Team Championship. Tommy Østgaard, the only scoring driver for ineX Racing, made it himself up to 2nd place in the Team Championship. Th1rd is TH1RDid with Reno Kööts and Joe Holmes who were unfortunately inactive after half of the season.
